JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

Our client is urgently looking for the qualified SHEQ Officer to start working ASAP.

KEY REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate must meet the following qualifications:

  • Must have relevant degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Food Science, or similar
  • Must have relevant short courses in SHE and Food Safety Management Systems

KEY REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:  

The candidate must have the following skills and competences

  • Must have minimum 1–2 years’ post-graduate experience in a SHE role, preferably in food manufacturing
  • Must have sound knowledge of South African SHE legislation and local by-laws
  • Experience with management systems and sustainability platforms (e.g. SEDEX, SHERPA) advantageous
  • Must have understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
  • Proficiency in MS Office with strong report-writing skills
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and document control
  • Must have understanding of SMETA/Ethical Audits advantageous

KEY DUTIES:

The candidate will have to implement the following duties:

  • To develop, implement, and maintain the Safety, Health and Environment Management System
  • To ensure compliance with OHS Act, NEMA, FSSC 22000, SMETA, IBL, and customer requirements
  • To participate in SMETA and other audits and ensure closure of non-conformances within set timelines
  • To drive continuous improvement initiatives related to SHE performance
  • To develop and deliver SHE training to employees at prescribed intervals
  • To coordinate and conduct SHE Committee meetings and implement recommendations
  • To prepare SHE performance reports, statistics, and presentations
  • Review and conduct emergency response procedures and drills
  • To oversee sustainability initiatives within the business
  • To manage certification of First Aiders, Fire Fighters, OHS Reps, and Forklift Drivers
  • To maintain accurate, SHE documentation and records
  • To perform additional, SHE-related duties as required
